Introduction to Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus Library

Swinburne Sarawak Library is the hub of the University that actively performs activities related to learning and teaching, research and generation of new knowledge, dissemination of research results and conservation of knowledge and ideas along with the extension of library services. The library has collections on various disciplines, of printed and AV materials such as books, reference sources, cassettes, videos, CDs, and e-resources to serve the Swinburne community. Swinburne Sarawak library is one of the participating libraries on the LibraryNet who is also a contributor to the Union Catalog, the statewide data warehouse of bibliographic collections.

The library has collections on various disciplines, of printed and AV materials such as books and reference sources, cassettes, videos and CDs to serve the college staffs and students. Swinburne University of Technology (Sarawak Campus) library is one of the participating libraries on the LibraryNet who is also a contributor to the Union Catalog, the statewide data warehouse of bibliographic collections.

Print, copy and scan

Printing, photocopying and scanning facilities are available at all campus libraries. There are instructions beside every printer and copier. If you need help, you can go to the service desk or ask a Rover.

Copy card

  • Use your student id card as a copy card.
  • Cards are issued with 0 credit.
  • Please liaise with library service desk staff if you have problems with your ID.


Printing

  • Print your document as normal.
  • Take your ID card to the printer.
  • Select your document on the screen and click print.
  • Swipe your copy card.


Wireless printing

  • Wireless printing is available at all campus libraries.

Library Code of Conduct


The University Library supports the Swinburne University community by providing services, collections and a pleasant environment that is conducive to study and research.

Library users also have a responsibility under the Library Use Policy to help Library staff ensure that the library continues to be a great place to learn, study and socialise.

Library users must not:

  Library facilities, equipment and/or resources

  • damage, vandalise, hide, or steal library materials or property.


Library computing equipment and resources
  • install unauthorised software, or alter software (such as changing program setups) on library computers.
  • use Library computing facilities for purposes other than legitimate educational, research and administrative purposes of Swinburne University.
  • breach any licence terms or conditions of software, or other resources installed or used on library computers
  • access inappropriate web sites, obscene material, or make reproductions that infringe intellectual property laws such as copyright.
  • refuse to vacate computer workstations after their booking has expired
  • behave in loud and disruptive manner as to upset other computer users

The use of Library computing facilities is governed by Information Technology (IT) Systems Acceptable Use Policy .


Disrupting research or study or interfering with the use of the library
  • create excessive noise or rowdiness, or participate in anti-social and offensive behaviour
  • participate in loud conversations in non designated group study areas
  • intimidate and harass Library staff or other library users
  • inconsiderately use communication devices such as mobile phones, laptops or media players in designated quiet study areas


Creating an unhealthy or unpleasant environment
  • smoke, consume alcohol, or use illegal substances in the Library.
  • consume food or drink in non designated areas of the library
  • Litter the library by discarding rubbish outside the provided rubbish bins
  • refuse to leave the library at closing time or during an emergency evacuation


Library users are required to comply with all applicable laws, policies and rules.
  • Failure to observe rules and this Code of Conduct may lead to eviction from the library, or withdrawal of Library privileges. Legal action may also be taken in cases of unlawful activity.
